“By the direction of this conference of 1866, the Plano Branch was requested to consider measures for securing or erecting a building which would not only serve their local needs but be suitable for housing the General Conferences. Accordingly, the branch decided to build, and in the spring of 1867 a committee, composed of Isaac Sheen, William Bronson, and myself, was appointed and authorized to take steps for securing means and to proceed with the work as wisdom should direct.”
